SummaryDescribe the proposed research in about 200 wards.Television is not new to education, but the introduction of interactive broadband systems that can cant' information both to and from the leamer is. This rev development opens up the possibility of personalised, adaptive learning experiences for individuals and groups of learners alike and has resulted in a height interest in the potential of television for education. In addition to which it provides an excellent opportunity for increased synergy arising from the converger different production and design traditions. The tradition of broadcast TV and filmmaking is strongly rooted in narrative. The best educational TV or film off( motivating, gripping and captivating variety of stimulating images. Those skilled in this medium know how to tell a story, how to intrigue, and how to conve effectively. In contrast, developers of adaptive educational software have focussed on individualising the content and its presentation, and/or adapting theparameters within which the learner or learners work. The potential for the production of motivating, engaging and effective leaming technology through a combination of this expertise is large. However, despite all this potential, the future of ie-TV is unclear. The workshop to be funded by grant will provide for the discussion of how we might best make this potential and will lead to the production of an initial outline pedagogically grounded content productionframework.
