Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal seeks to combine recent developments in the structural control of polythylenes and organo-phillic layered silicates to establish novel approaches to structural reinforcement, performance extension and processing control of metallocene and non-metallocene catalysed polyethylenes by combining them with organophillic layered silicates. In addition, the novel use of supercritical CO2, along with changes in the gallery chemistry of the silicate to facilitate the intercalation and exfoliation of the clay will be explored, including the use of new compatibilising strategies.
