Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposal is a request for an electrospray mass spectroscopy (ES-MS) and a modern GC-MS system for the School of Chemistry at St Andrews. The instruments will be used to underpin synthetic chemistry the school including inorganic, organic and bio-organic chemistry. The systems are both automated and will process samples for the School under the supervision and management of a technicianCurrently the situation is very poor as there is no general access to ES-MS or GC-MSThe system will provide an internationally competitive facility to underpin the research programmes of Professors Cole-Hamilton, O'Hagan, Woollins, Walton,Morris and Naismith and Drs Philp, Botting, Wright, Aitken and Westwood.
