Continuation and further development of collaboration with Dr S E Bottle, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), on nitroxyl mono and polyradicals containing the tetramethylisoindolin-2-yloxyl (TMIO) moiety. The advanced EPR facilities at the Centre for Magnetic Resonance (CMR), University of Queensland (UQ), including state-of-the-art pulse EPR and continuous wave (L-, S-, X- and Q-band) spectrometers will be used to study molecular motion across a range of timescales and to evaluate exchange coupling in the solid state. Analysis of spectra will utilise X-Sophe, a sophisticated program developed by Dr G Hanson at UQ, with whom there will also be collaboration.Collaboration with Dr A Whittaker at CMR will involve advanced solid-state NMR techniques with particular reference to diffusion and imaging. Stray-field techniques (STRAFI) for imaging and diffusion will be introduced, utilising the experience of Dr D G Giliies. His experience with EPR diffusion studies using TMIO radicals will be used to extend these to monitoring by NMR imaging.New possibilities for EPR imaging by pulse and continuous wave (CW) methods will be explored.
