Summary on Grant Application Form |
This application is to support the creation of a consortium and to prepare the proposal for a European Union FP VI project entitled 'The Dynamic Human'. This project aims to implement models of human motion suitable for supporting clinical decision making in the clinical environment with the objective of improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery whilst reducing its costs. Whilst the primary application is healthcare other applications include telepresence, CAD systems, entertainments industry and law enforcement. The majority of current models are designed to meet computer graphics needs and lack the fidelity to be used in the clinical environment. Models will be commercially implemented in a form that allows them to be embedded into other applications. Expertise from a large number of different disciplines taken from both the academic and industrial sectors will be required to carry out the Dynamic Human project, including biomechanics, motion analysis, medical image processing, physics, engineering, mathematics, art & design, human computer interaction, virtual reality display systems, computer graphics, computer science, surgery, rehabilitation medicine, prosthetics & orthotics, CAD software. This grant will support the travel and administrative costs associated with creating the consortium and preparing the final application for FP VI funding.
