Summary on Grant Application Form
The construction industry has been the subject of radical reform over the last five years. These reforms prompted by client dissatisfaction and government fostered action has started to change the nature of relationships in the industry. Having noted this progress one major and fundamental element of the way relationships are shaped and maintained - the way in which payment systems operate - has not been the subject of any research. This project proposes the development of a decision aid tool that will help project teams to select appropriate payment systems for a given the project requirements and characteristics. A supply chain payment simulator which can create alternative cash flow models under different payment system conditions (both existing and novel) will be developed and tested. This simulator will then be used on case studies in order to assess the impact of alternative payment systems on project requirements and stakeholders satisfaction.
