Summary on Grant Application Form |
This application is for travel funds to facilitate negotiations for integrating two rival consortia who have submitted similar Expressions of Interest for major EU Framework 6 Integrated Projects. The investigators at the University of Kent are coordinating one consortium, MODELS, involving 29 commercial and academic institutions such as IBM, British Aerospace and France Telecom. The other consortium, ModelWare, involves major European companies including Thales, Daimler and Siemens. Travel funding up to this point has come from a number of sources, including the University of Kent. The emergence of a competing Eol means significantly more discussion than was originally envisaged will be required. Hence we request travel support for sensitive and wide ranging negotiations between Kent and the key members of both consortium. We expect business and computer systems modelling to be a key thematic priority of framework 6, as modelling is fundamental to software development and recent developments in modelling technology will inspired much further work. A combined approach from both consortium will greatly. improve the chances of joint success and significantly enhance the position of the UK partners as leaders in current research efforts in modelling.
