Panel History:
Summary on Grant Application Form
The research project at Swansea will focus on lightweight (high temperature conductor systems and soft magnetic alloys. The experimental activities will encompass:i) The development of new conductor systems including the evaluation of the mechanical and electrical behaviour and failure mechanisms in existing materials, the definition and validation of new systems with particular emphasis on the temperature capability of conductors and the response of novel high temperature ceramic insulation systems.ii) The characterisation of creep and fatigue mechanisms of CoFe alloys at temperature and stresses relevant to the higher performance operating conditions of the More Electric Engine.
