Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal is concerned with the development of a Young Academics Network for Chemical Engineering (YAN-CE), the purpose of which is to bring together young academics and industry to foster innovation, collaboration, multidiscipfnarity and new ideas which cover all aspects of the life of a young academic. The main objectives for the YAN-CE have been summarised into 4 key themes: Research - training, collaboration and networking with both industry and academics from other disciplines Teaching - collaboration in course development, teaching notes, novel methods of teaching, updating and modernising the curriculum Perceived image of Chem Eng amongst students, industry and the UK population as a whole Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and promotion criterion between UniversitiesThese aims will be achieved via the establishment of various network components. Communication links will be developed via a website and regular newsletters. An annual two-day Showcase Event will be implemented that will consist of keynote lectures given by invited speakers, research forums at which young academics can present their research work and a number of discussion groups in key areas relating to hot topics in research and teaching.
