Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is to develop femtosecond pulse lasers in the mid-infrared (2-3micron) spectral region. To this end, further developments of the novel Cr2+:chalcogenide crystal system will be investigated. To promote femtosecon. duration pulse generation passive modelocking will be investigated using new GaAsSb and InAsN semiconductor saturable absorbers developed within this programme. Initial studies into the application of these lasers as bio-photonic probes will be also undertaken
