Summary on Grant Application Form |
The continued development of carborane monoanions, such as [CB11H12]- as technologically useful anions (i.e. weakly coordinating anions) for a range of applications relies on new synthetic routes to poly-functionalised derivatives, of which [CB11Me11H]- currently represents the only routinely synthetically accessible example. This proposal seeks funding the development of new routes to the synthesis of novel functionalised carborane monoanions, such as metal mediated coupling and hydroboration reactions as well as transition metal catalysed routes.
