Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed VF has recently demonstrated an interesting relationship between the efficiency of free-electron devices such as the maser and the Kolmogorov entropy of the electron beam: when the latter is nonzero, efficiency is reduced. Nonzero entropy is an indication of a chaotic element present in in the (deteriministic) electron dynamics. We will examine the effect of nonzero entropy on SASE in a free-electron laser.
