Summary on Grant Application Form
My proposed research in the field of quantum information theory encompasses a mixture of pragmatic and foundatior topics. In particular, in the Case for Support I present a proposal to:1. Investigate a variety of issues regarding the minimal requirements for obtaining the advantages that quantum information theory would seem to provide and to explore the possibility that these results can give us insight into quantitative similarities and differences between a variety of physical theories based on the power of the computatior model they allow.2. To explore a number of outstanding problems I have identified in quantum communication theory, in particular seel to continue my work on the universal quantum communication primitives of steering and control.3. To try and identify the unifying concept 1 believe exists which would enable a deeper understanding of the relation: between non-orthogonality and entanglement.4. To perform realistic calculations aimed at understanding the dynamics of small qubit clusters at finite temperature
