Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) is a new and emerging field of biologically inspired computing. AIS utilises metaphors from the immune system, based on both theoretical immunology and observed immune components and functions, in various commercial and research-based contexts.There is an emerging community of researchers in the UK who are advancing this area of artificial immune systems. In order to foster this momentum, a network is proposed that will allow for these researchers to collaborate more easily, share information, extend the community of AIS researchers and establish the UK as a major player in the area of AIS. It is anticipated that this will result in collaborative research grant proposals and joint authored papers.To allow this to happen, it is fundamental that the efforts and expertise of many people are effectively co-ordinated aiming to develop the field of AIS at a theoretical level, enable the use of more effective immune metaphors, investigate new areas of application for AIS and establish AIS in context with other computational intelligence approaches.
