Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed research is to establish a facility for the development of novel applications of the materials produced by the FFC Cambridge Process postdoctoral workers will aid the transfer of this technology to British Industry by understanding industry's problems and working with industry to materials that meet industry's requirements. The areas supported will include powders, superconductors, magnets, biomaterials and novel alloy material properties will be optimised for each application. As well as developing suitable materials for industry, the postdoctoral workers will undergo training in technology transfer and creation of start-ul companies. This approach will allow a significant fraction of British Industry to become aware of this technology. This approach does not overlap with companies developing the technology for specific applications but does complement these activities by exploring other opportunities.
