The project will enable the named Visiting Fellow - Dr Cristina Masoller - to undertake theoretical work on chaos synchronisation in multimode Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers. The work will be explicitly linked to complementary experimental investigations and is planned to provide the fundamental understanding needed to effect an unambiguous demonstration of chaos synchronisation in multi-mode VCSELs. Such an achievement would open a significant new opportunity for the utilisation of VCSELs in multi-channel chaotic communications.
