Summary on Grant Application Form |
The ultimate purpose of our research cluster is to build up research groups with central topics related to neuronal computation and neuronal control, in order to construct ambitious multidisciplinary grant proposals that address problems that have both key biological importance and have significant potential implications for a theoretical understanding of brain function to underpin the development of novel computational approaches. We are going to have three meetings and at the end of the grant, several proposals will be submitted to EPSRC, BBSRC and Wellcome Trust. Furthermore, we intend to edit a book to reflect the outcome of the cluster. Our proposal fits perfectly with the call: a. complexity and computation; b. nature inspired computation; c. analysis and control of complex systems; d. hybrid systems; e. complexity and information uncertainty. W e wil consider major but tractable problems in systems neuroscience using in vivo and in vitro experimental data, and we will directly test our results in controlling robots and potentially in clinic treatments (control).
