Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main determinant in developing a cohesive society is the emergence of an integrated knowledge society that offers a wide vision of possibilities for citizens to improve their life chances. Fundamental to creating this vision is open access to information, education and knowledge through the provision of information systems. The network will structure collaboration amongst Systems practitioners from Universities, Business, Government and other research enterprises currently investigating the links between social, economic, gender and education issues and also share research knowledge on how information systems can address the challenges that citizens face in taking up new opportunities. The participants in this network have current world-class expertise in using Systems ideas as a means of problem definition and information systems design in complex social systems. This expertise includes information system modelling, collaborative design methods, e-learning support and IT system development. This knowledge will be integrated and used to facilitate access to knowledge and collaborative learning across the full spectrum of society. The network will disseminate the results of the network's collaboration to policy makers, the general public and educators.
