Summary on Grant Application Form |
Describe the proposed research using (about 200) words geared to the non-specialist reader. This proposal, submitted under the INTERACT Call for Proposals, aims to strengthen links with the rapidly developing research base, the emerging industrial applications and thus the potential market in China in the field of fibre optic sensors and instrumentation. The request is for funds to enable academics at City University with extensive experience in the field to make new contacts with scientists and engineers at three major University laboratories. As a result they will seek support for future collaboration in research and plan for a future workshop to enable wider dissemination of results and capabilities, experience in technology and knowledge translation and to allow a detailed exchange of ideas and experience in this growing field, to mutual benefit. Funding, largely for travel and subsistence, is requested, carefully costed at 4.5k.
