|
This proposal is for organising a high level workshop interfacing senior industrialists and leading maintenance modelling researchers to identify interactively with industry the opportunities, scope and need for maintenance research effort to address identified generic problems for industry over the next 5-10 years. Some ten senior engineers and managers from leading UK industrial organisations will be invited along with about ten leading international researchers predominantly, though not exclusively, associated with the International Foundation for Research in Maintenance (IFRIM) in late March 2004. Industrialists will be pre-visited to collect background information, be briefed on the workshop and be aided to present their perception of their current and future decision issues and operational problems. In return, brief case histories will be used to indicate to industry the nature of current modelling developments, and outlines given of perceived problems for researchers. There will be numerous panel group discussion sessions with reporting back to clarify the nature of any consensus and future issues to address as they develop. Findings will be written up, circulated and subsequently published in journals and at international conferences.
