Summary on Grant Application Form |
We want to inspire the general public to think about batteries and electricity by building the largest Vegetable Powered Battery in the world and to set a new Guinness World Record. With this massive VPB we plan to power a 2004 Christmas decoration in Stoke-on-Trent. A radio advertising campaign will ask people to bring along a piece of veg to power up the battery and keep the lights on.The VPB will be mobile and tour around the Northwest and Midlands and schools during the build-up to Christmas. Along side the VPB displays will inform people about the science of batteries and power generation. The VPB would power hands-on fun exhibits such as mobile phones, radios, CD players, electronic games and more serious gadgets such as a heart pace-maker and electronic tags to impress upon people the difference batteries make in our lives.
