Summary on Grant Application Form |
The purpose of the proposed research is to investigate a new and exciting technology for realising very sensitive room-temperature detectors for millimtre-wave applications. The proposed technology consists of growing long, single crystal, fibres of C60, having a diameter of approximately 200 nm. With suitable in-situ growth, a self-assembled detector can be made, which is predicted to have superior performance (in terms of bandwidth and noise) over existing technologies.
