Summary on Grant Application Form |
The network promotes its objectives by funding visits between labs, from a Graphics to a Vision lab, day; a typical visit will involve a PhD student. In addition the network will run a web site to host contributions, and organise a workshop at the end of the network. The thrust of the work will be in funding visits. We propose a mechanism which is similar to EPSRC responsive mode funding. The network receives bids for funding. The bids are peer reviewed. Funding is decided on moneys available. The administrative (called the steering committee) and review personnel are distinct; although both groups are taken from the academic communities. Also, the turn round time will be much faster, reflecting the relatively small amount of money pet visit (about 3500, we expect, for a 3 month visit) and the life-time of the network (36 months).Inclusiviyy is a key word for this bid. All documents, including the case for support, will be made publicly available. All decisions will be transparent. A summary of each exchange will be published on the WG web site. All exchanges will be required to present outcomes at the workshop.
