This project aims to develop a commercial-grade software package that brings state-of the-art thermodynamics to non-expert users in the oil and processing industries. The software will allow companies to lower the cost and duration of their process development cycle, and will be used to support key engineering activities throughout the process lifecycle. The software will be based on the SAFT equation of state, a thermodynamic model developed over the last 15 years, which has become widely known in industry for its superior predictive capabilities. However, this renown has not been followed by widespread use because existing implementations are limited in applicability and require expert knowledge. This project will build on a current EPSRC-funded project that aims to make SAFT accessible to industry by developing dependable and efficient numerical tools for a whole range of SAFT-based activities.
