Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project aims to provide a unique HPC application code which will, for the first time, allow the computational study of violent wave impact on coastal structures during the critical, two hour, high water period. The application, based on the AMAZON-SC numerical code (developed under the EPSRC VOWS and MATIF projects and the EU CLASH project), will make use of a temporal splitting approach to allow small sequences of wave impacts to be computed in parallel without preventing the computation of overall overtopping statistics. Parallelisation of the code will further be enhanced through the use of multi-threaded adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) techniquesThis project aims to provide a unique HPC application code which will, for the first time, allow the computational study of violent wave impact on coastal structures during the critical, two hour, high water period.
