Summary on Grant Application Form |
In-cylinder instantaneous heat transfer plays a significant role in the production of NOx in IC engines and such emissions are a major concern for gasoline direct injection engines that have been optimised for fuel economy. By measuring the instantaneous heat transfer within a GDI research engine with known NOx emission characteristics we aim to validate a new model that simulates the instantaneous heat flux and its impact on NOx emissions.
