It is proposed to develop an educational adventure game in which the players proceed through stages of the Egyptian Afterlife, represented as levels within the game, by solving many different kinds of problems.The underlying structure and design of the game is that of a first-person perspective adventure game in which the player, or team of players, progress through the various levels of the Egyptian Afterlife by exploring a virtual world and solving a variety of puzzles set by the Gods. The stages of the game will follow the Egyptian Book of the Dead with the number of levels being determined purely by available time and resources acquired by the player/s.In order to make the game more interesting and educational, the traditional first-person perspective style will be enhanced through the use of a state of the art Virtual Reality CAVE environment in order to fully immerse the children in a virtual world in which all the characters and objects will appear lifesize.The game is principally aimed at Primary and Secondary schools, and in particular disadvantaged children who are at risk of exclusion / disaffection. Its purpose is to build self-esteem and confidence and develop key skills such as problem solving, communication skills, arithmetic and developing strategy and memory skills.This will be achieved through the children having to solve a variety of puzzles from the fields of Mathematics, Engineering and the Sciences. The degree of difficulty of these tasks will vary depending upon the age range of the children involved at any one time.
