As with any prestigious, well-established conference, EKAW-2004 will be a plafform for the dissemination of cutting edge research. EKAW-2004 will focus on research into the rapidly evolving 'Semantic Web' which can best be viewed as a new generation of web architecture where computational process as well as humans can interact with distributed information sources. In particular, EKAW-2004 will focus on Semantic Web Services - i.e., way: of reasoning about, identifying, utilizing and composing web-based computational services which can be used , for example, to authenticate informatior sources, book travel tickets, identify possible hospitals abroad for NHS operations and provide educational opportunities.Other topics will include knowledge management, ontological engineering and knowledge acquisition and modelling.In addition, EKAW-2004 will provide the opportunity to show-case flagship EPSRC-funded projects such as AKT and Equator.It will also provide opportunities for participation by UK researchers (especially new researchers) and UK industry. It will give researchers the chance to meet, to discuss ideas, to develop networks and to evolve new reserch directions.
