Summary on Grant Application Form |
In June 2005 the UK will be host to the most prestigeous conference in laser spectroscopy. For the first time its 34 year history the conference will be held in the UK. This is an outstanding opportunity to showcase UK research at the leading international forum. Over the years this conference has been the forum in which many of the most innovative developments in the field have been first announced. This include the ealy observation of sub-Doppler spectroscopy through to Bose Einstein condensation. Indeed breakthroughs announced at provious ICOLS meetings have been subject to three separate Nobel prizes in 1981, 1997 and 2001. The aim of this project is to provide bursaries for UK based research students to enable them to participate in this unique event and to provide support to enable the highest quality international speakers to be invited to participate in the meeting.
