The departments of Physics, and Mechanical Engineering at King's College London, have interests in producing core/shell nanoparticles for improving solder joint reliability at high temperatures and in harsh environments. Schlumberger, supplier of services and equipment to the oil and gas drilling industry, have requirements for electronics that can survive temperatures of 200C for over 1 year. Following an initial visit by Schlumberger to KCL, Dr. Samjid Mannan and Dr. Mark Green have been invited to Schlumberger's Clamart site in France, to discuss collaboration for a Framework 7 EU project. Other participants in this project include Henkel, and an automotive manufacturer interested in high temperature electronics, yet to be identified, and at least one other University - probably IZM Berlin who have interests in this field.
