Summary on Grant Application Form |
Optical studies, centred around fluorescence and second harmonic generation will be used to characterise the surface structural properties of mono-disperse starburst dendrimers. The surfaces of these mesoscopic particles will be functionalised with aromatic groups via one-step synthetic methods. The study is exploratory and is of two years duration. We will determine the feasibility of more ambitious multi-step synthesis and characterisation of these novel systems and propose further work.
