Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main objective is to study solidification processes during polymerisation of matrices used for structural composites. Polymer forming systems involving chemical and/or physical gelation will be studied by real time measurements including FTIR, rheology and simultaneous SAXS/WAXS. A further objective will be to study the influence of fibre surfaces on matrix solidification during reactive processing. Modelling of reactive processes will provide correlations of fibre-matrix interfacial interactions with the thermal, tensile and fracture properties of the structural composites formed.
