Summary on Grant Application Form |
We have shown that it is possible to form remarkably uniform zerolitic membranes. We wish to investigate the factors which influence membrane formation and to apply this knowledge. The primary objective is the development of a zeolitic membrane on a porous, ceramic support, suitable for hydrogen removal in dehydrogenation processes. The integrity, permeability and durability of the membrane under likely conditions of use will be studied. Initial studies will be undertaken using flatsheets, but ultimately we hope to prepare membranes in tubular reactors. A secondary objective is to deposit zeolitic layers onto fibrous materials. This might have advantages as a packing for ion exchange columns.
