1. To provide an object-based model. for the definiton of 'business objects' which encapsulates their full lifecycle descriptions - specification, design, execution and evolution.2. A Method and tools for incrementally instantiating the mode]. definition through the lifecycle, linking the various products. 3. To evaluate the research in facilitating requirements traceability and reuse.Progress:The object oriented approach is characterised by a process of incremental object descriptions, at increasingly detailed levels of abstraction, from requirements through to implementation. However, the effectiveness of the approach is limited by the fact that such descriptions are structured around the system-specific artifacts of the traditional development process, such as requirements specifications and design documents, rather than a more direct relationship with the underlying objects themselves.A total business object extends the notion of an object to encapsulate the whole of its lifecycle information: user and business requirements, related domain knowledge, design decisions, test suites, dependencies and change history, as well as its interface and implementation.The project is currently developing the notion of a total business object, focusing on the underlying object model of lifecycle information, including techniques for attaching requirements to objects. The next stage of the project will address methods for constructing these objects and maintaining them throughout the development process.
