Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project will produce a fully functional prototype Silicon Light Triggered Thyristor incorporating self protection from spurrious operating conditions. The device design procedure will be completely based on modelling using a new tool from University College Swansea. This model will take input from a new version of a photoradiometric microscope to be designed, built and operated by University College London - the instrument will have the capability to measure the carrier lifetime in the thyristor wafer in spatially localised position, and in scanning mode, produce a lifetime map of the variations across the wafer. The impact of these variations will be accounted in the design of device produced from the model.
