Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposal is to establish a state-of-the-art high resolution solid-state NMR spectrometer at Durham, using the existing system as a basis. NMR methodology for examining fluorinated materials and for obtaining dipolar interaction strengths will be established. Second-order quadrupolar effects on spin-1/2 nuclei will be exploited. Applications are proposed to (i) hydrogen-bonding, (ii) polymorphism, (iii) organometallics, (iv) adsorption, (v) ceramics, (vi) polymers and (vii) silicates. The aims are to derive geometric, structural, dynamics and morphological information as well as data relevant to the NMR phenomenon (shielding tensors, indirect coupling and quadrupolar coupling).
