Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposal is to construct an acoustic pulse space charge measuring system and to use it to investigate the dynamics of space charge injection and recombination in materials that are of direct interest to power cable manufacturers and users. Much of the computational techniques have already been developed and effective co-operation has been established with Professor Takada who has supplied data for the evaluation of the computational analysis. Initial results are highly encouraging. The background to the proposal has been the realisation from the Nat. Grid/Nat. Power co-operative investigation into electrical breakdown in resin insulators that there is a necessity for quantified information on charge injection and space charge dynamics in order to examine ageing and breakdown in insulators that are of industrial importance.
