Summary on Grant Application Form
The long term aim of this work is to investigate the use of techniques from differential geometry for analysis of nonlinear systems directly. It is necessary also to evaluate the range of validity of tools in linear analysis and hence to identify systems where a nonlinear analysis is appropriate. The objectives of Dr Lewin's visit will be i) to work with us on establishing case studies for the project, ii) investigating the properties of the linearisations of the processes under consideration, iii) working with us on applying his disturbance maps (Lewin, 1991) to the systems we are considering, and iv) to consolidate the basis for future collaboration in this area.
