Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project involves investigating the physical effects of combining sub-micron magnetic material with sub-micron semiconductor devices. An atomic force microscope that works at liquid helium temperatures will be used to position a magnetic tip above the active area of a sub-micron semiconductor device, the properties of which are being measured. Inhomogenous magnetic fields will be applied locally to the device being measured. The tip will also be used as a moveable magnetic contact directly to inject a spin inbalance into the semiconductor materials.
