Summary on Grant Application Form
The objective of the proposed programme is to undertake a serious and intensive study of the security and practicality of elliptic curve cryptosystems. An important aspect will be the analysis and development of discrete logarithm algorithms in elliptic curve groups- in particular, a study of the index calculus method and its relation to elliptic curve groups. We will also study the relationship between the geometrical structure of elliptical curves and the algorithmic processes operating in the group to exploit this both in the analysis of discrete logarithm elliptic curve cryptosystems and the development of new cryptographic applications of elliptical curves.
