Summary on Grant Application Form |
The application proposes the development of systematic design methodology for multiphase reactors. The methodology, which capitalises on previous experience in modelling and optimisation of homogeneous systems, will simultaneously consider all the existing alternatives for the reactor operation and optimise for the appropriate design choices. This will allow the development of nonconventional schemes with capabilities to maximise the usage of raw materials and optimise their performance. The research will develop technology for the general problem with full consideration of the challenges associated with the complexity of the reaction, the distribution of the phases into each other, as well as the various macro- and micromixing patterns available.
