Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this proposal is to extend the 3D shallow-water equations to include the influence of non-hydrostatic pressure. This will enable the prediction of vertical separation effects in currents ad waves which are, for example, vital in determining scour and sediment transport processes around breakwaters and pollution trapping close to headlands and islands. The computational predictions will be tested as far as possible against cases which have been investigated experimentally.
