Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is proposed to complete a total synthesis of the macrocyclic antibiotic lankacidin C. key steps will be the stereoselective acylation of an azetidinone, an intermolecular transacylation of the azetidinone to give the six-membered lactone fragment, and the macrocylisation step. Once this synthesis is complete, we will continue on a different synthesis, namely a synthesis of the insecticidal alkaloid stemofoline.
