Summary on Grant Application Form |
Considerable efforts internationally have developed knowledge about sediments and associated pollutants in sewers. Despite the availability of computational tools to assist engineers and others to model these phenomena, there are still a number of important gaps in knowledge. The proposed project aims to build on a well established test sewer system, for which a strong knowledge base exists, and to utilise existing proven instrumentation to investigate the most important outstanding aspects of sediment in sewers. A comprehensive study is proposed to monitor hydraulics, sediment transport in suspension, ear and in the bed ad associate pollutant movement. Analysis will improve existing empirical models and allow new CFD models to be developed. The detailed scientific study will contribute directly to the enhancement of the commercial software.
