|
As a newly appointed lecturer at UMIST, the applicant wishes to conitnue his research in laser processing applications. There is no laser equipment at UMIST to support his research. The requested equipment will be used to support a new area of research in proccessing engineering. The research will be intially concentrated on high temperature refractory materials processing with high power lasers for chemical and energy industries. Further research projects may be generated and resources sought after some inital feasibility studies using the equipment.
