Summary on Grant Application Form
1. Investigate the impact of adding temporal quantifications (e.g. whenever , always ) on both the taxonomies and expressive power of MUTL.2. Determine to what extent the taxonomies of temporal prepositions could enhance the capability of the Discourse Representation Theory based system for translating specification English to temporal logic.3. If 2 is positive, determine how Discourse Representation Theory should be extended to accommodate the meaning of the variety of temporal prepositions studied.4. Determine the effects of temporal prepositions on temporal anaphoric reference, in general, and in specification English in particular.5. As specifications are generally detached from the present (i.e. do not have an utterance time ) determine whether this is compatible with the observed meanings of those temporal prepositions whose semantics include a time of utterance.
