Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme is to study, using NMR methods, heavy fermion metals at ultralow temperatures exploiting the exceptional sensitivity and broadband response of SQUID NMR spectrometers we have developed. Measurements of the frequency and temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate hitherto impossible for reasons of signal sensitivity will provide information on the nature of spin fluctuations and superconducting order. Specific experiments include a study at low frequencies of established and candidate non Fermi liquid compounds and studies on single crystal superconducting compounds.
