Summary on Grant Application Form |
We are filling a patent on the design of a novel magnetic transistor which uses a spin polarised diffusion current to make a device whose current gain is large and is controllable by an externally applied magnetic field. The device has potential application as a low noise magnetic field sensor for magnetic data storage or as the basic element in a magnetic processor. We request funding to investigate the novel physics of spin polarised diffusion currents and to build and test a prototype device.
