Summary on Grant Application Form |
Solar photovoltaic power promises to play major part in alleviating greenhouse gas emissions and prefacing fossil fuels. The Scolar Programme links these benefits to smart building concepts, educational development and technology to contribute to a substantial advance in British capability in this high growth market sector. The research focuses on these areas of the greatest prospective benefit for the industry, with specific projects on:- building integrated PV systems technology, including new-build and retrofit concepts- effective, safe power handling approaches including novel inverter and wiring designs- enhanced monitoring and display hardware and software, with Internet linkage- fundamental research in smart windows, thin film materials and power handling systems- The results of this research will be applied in 100 systems around the country, where they can also contribute to education of the student population and the public at large.
