Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal requests funding for a high-field NMR Spectrometer to support a large number of research programmes at UCL. For example, We will utilise high field NMR measurements to help us1. complete the first total synthesis of antitumour antibiotics A83586C and Citropeptin.2. Define the role played by the oligosaccaride regions of anthracycline antibiotics in their sequence selective binding to DNA.3. Elucidate the structures of chiral enolates in solution.4. Document new aspects of molecular conformation and clarify a range of existing poorly understood phenomena.5. Explore a new polarity-reversed catalytic method for performing the radical mediated asymmetric Aldol reaction.
